Scratch built tau allied detatchment and chaos conversions

I am so tired of my flip flopping between armies in 40k and my buying and selling armies and half painted armies. It almost made me swear off GW for life, it is expensive enough without rebuying things because of idiot decision making. Anyway, due to this bad habit of mine I am not re buying tau for a third time so am sculpting my allied detachment of one crisis suit commander and 6 man firewarrior squad from scratch(wire armatures from modelling wire bulking with miliput and greenstuff for everything else) It is ambitious and I'm a little nervous but going beyond your abilities always seems to improve them... so don't be faint hearted all of you out there sculpt your hearts out it's fun and alot easier than it looks( not to be taken to GW store or Warhammer world, they might not like that)

Here are my tau allies so far

These were my designs for the tau sculpts. Hopefully how they will look if I pull it off but with more dimensions

I also have been sculpting a Second Hq for my cultist heavy chaos force he is about half way to completion I started with a marine torso and then greenstuffed arms legs feed and torso detail I need to go over alot of it to add detail finish off the lightning claws as they look crap as they are in their first stage of sculpting and the face.... I'm looking forward to sculpting a really crazy face but the jump pack is going to be hard, things with proper circles or straight lines are very hard to get right.

Just for a bit of fun I converted this guy....he is a slaneeshi cultist with heavy stubber I made him from a guards man's legs and torso and one arm the rest is greenstuff except the gasmask head is from maxi mini.

I love the thought of him shuffling about around the hive in dark corners or whatever before the chaos insurrection took place hiding his monstrous mutation under his ragged cloak until the time came to strike when he joined his fellow cultists and picked up a heavy stubber with his hideous tentacled limb and gunned down the pdf or local enforcers or whatever lol.

Not sure if anyone reads the blog anymore as I let it decay for a while but hope if anyone is they got something out of it hopefully the idea that greenstuff is awesome :)

Pathfinder Shas'ui (paintjob)

Hi there hope you all have checked out the battle report the post before this one ;) anyways this is just a quick one to show you the first painted guy in my unit of 6 pathfinders.

They are built from fire warriors with no conversion work that is pretty lazy I'll admit but I had run out of green stuff and couldnt put off painting one as i had the painting urge at the time. I think the pathfinders are going to look the same as the fire warriors but for the sergant/ shas'ui I painted the helmet red and white as opposed to white so he stood out.

I did a minor conversion on his left arm and hand so that he is putting his hand up as if to say "hold" to the other scouts behind him the other pathfinders are all crouching down to make this look more so as i imagine it you can see this better if you watch the bat rep. Happy blogging/wargaming !

Painted Broodlord

I completely forgot to post pictures of the broodlord with the converted tounge I finished some time ago. If I could redo him I would definately give the model an almost head to toe file because it has a LOT of finecast related problems..so here they are :)

Emperor's Children Raptor Kill Team and Flesh Tearers wip

I recently purchased Kill Team on ps3 after a long time moaning about people playing Space Marine and having power swords before reaching level 41. So after thoroughly enjoying Kill Team the game I remembered there has been quite a bit of buzz about the tabletop version. I'd been so involved in Necromunda that I am only just learning how cool it is.

Having realised it's coolness my usual obsessive nature lead to me looking at my CSMs and wondering which models I would choose to make my kill team (I also spent some time pondering how S could compose her tyranids into a Kill team before she even knew what was happening)

I haven't had a go playing yet but have created a list and improved on some Raptors I had (I wasn't 100% happy with them) I especially like the tentacled guy.

-Allan

As you all know I have decided to collect the Flesh Tearer chapter of Blood Angels. Below is the guy I started today (I decided to at least start on it after finished my Brood Lord today). It is a test marine so I can figure out how I want to achieve the colours and ...well it's been a while since I've painted Space Marines.

Allan kindly gave me one of his assault marines he hadn't converted to chaos, I dropped it and the jump pack neatly came off so I decided to paint it seperatly in case you are wondering why he isn't wearing it.
I plan on using the Flesh Tearer shoulder pads you can get from GW instead of the transfers but for this test marine I did freehand. I've just done a base in Khorne red I do plan on adding highlights and layers so the red in the picture is not the final red shade.

Chaos dread finished and more Necromunda stuff

Hi there, I've finally finished my Emperors children dreadnought! (with space marine cc arm and alpha legion sarcophagus lol) It doesn't look amazing I know but its only the third vehicle i've ever painted and progress is slow for me and hard earned but it's very rewarding to see even small improvements in your own work (I'm sure you'll all agree with me on this)

I basically did a lot of washing,a bit of drybrushing, some blending even attempting a little object source lighting but the only thing I really did to any affect in my opinion was the heat staining on the auto cannon barrels. This idea i got from Ron from the warps blog post which you can find here....http://fromthewarp.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/how-to-paint-heat-stained-gun-barrels.html

I did it less impressively and somewhat weaker in terms of the heat staining if you will, as I imagine auto cannons aren't as heat producing as the terminators assualt cannon seen in Rons post.

Any criticism or suggestions on my painting is always  welcomed and appreciated!

Also on my desk this week was a lil guy known in necromunda as a 'Juve' He's a cawdor juve who looks very scared ha ha i think the dum dum bullets in his stub gun are about to blow up in his face maybe :S

The paints a little thick i think this is the third time i've repainted this metal nec dude. Also carrying on with the necromunda theme this week another ash waste nomad i created from bits and pieces ...(spot the tau bits used to create a long rifle lol) I'm a crappy sculpter but i freakin love green stuff!!!!! it's so fun to mess about with.

He is a heavy with heavy stubber and long rifle ..'but wait you already have two heavies in that gang that's the maximum!' yes you are right imaginary voice but ... it's always good to have options in necromunda where guys routinely fall off walkways to their untimely and gruesome deaths (its cool to replace guys with different models and different weapons etc) If you want to see a video bat rep of a necromunda campaign game skip back one post in our blog and have a gander ! untill next time then ... bye :D

Necromunda video bat rep Delaque vs AW Nomads campaign

So here it is, the first game in our campaign. I can't even describe how fun it was, ok it was very fun ^-^ It's a short one because the turns are quite brief and S failed her 1st bottle test. This was unlike the game Allan had with George yesterday when noone bottled for ages.

It meant the game ended earlier than we'd hoped and because it is fairly likely, Nec games can be very short, but that is why playing a campaign is essential!

Fully painted Tyranid shrike and more..

S here again, on a roll it seems with the posting ^_^ Without futher ado..

On another note, I know I said some time ago that I was crap at painting faces and would therefore be staying away from space marines  but....i've changed my mind. I plan to start collecting the Flesh Tearers chapter of Space Marines!! Actually I knew a while back that I wouldn't be keeping to that statement and have been researching chapers for a lil bit. I will still be playing as and collecting more Nids in the immediate future because I  have a lot of work to do creating an army list and reading up on space marine rules *GULP*

 Above pic from www.gamesworkshop.com

A couple of pics from our weekend game of necromunda. Spot the bridge to nowhere haha I was playing as Cawdor temporarily while waiting for new bases for my Delaque that I managed to melt....long story.

Allan's beautifully painted gang takes an ass whooping before beating me down.
Lastest Nomad ganger conversion. Armed with boltgun and a very fetching green stuff hooded top :D

Last tyranid shrike green stuff conversion (lash whip and bones sword)

As promised here is my last shrike with lash whip and bone sword . I actually started making this before I saw them due to be released in WD and I did feel a bit disappointed, but actually I really like my take on the biomorphs. I've just been really lazy to post these pics because I didn't really like the pose but here it is.

The lash whip has spikes taken from spare bits and I just used a reconfigured scything talon to make a bone sword and made a bigger blade on top of it with GS like i'd seen done online so many times. Looks kinda strange but should blend in almost perfectly when primed and painted.

Next pics of them will be fully painted!

Emperors children Raptors and Battle report

Hi there, allan here and I've finnished a few raptors in the following paint scheme...

I already described how i changed it first on space marine the ps3 game so I thought I'd show my raptor skin for the game first.
Here are the minatures ..
Today i played against George a 855 point each side capture and control table quaters game of 40k my chaos marines against his eldar.
I had daemon prince with mark of slaan and doombolt, two 5 man squads of chaos marines one with power weapon and a 7 man squad of raptors with two melta guns and a champion with paired lightning claws. Finally i packed in my havocs with  the big guns we all love to shoot at things.

George had a jetbike seer council with all the lovely cheesey stuff i can never remember, a load of guardian jetbikes, 5 dire avengers and 5 banshees.

I went first moving toward georges base keeping the havocs in my own with their long range goodness and my daemon prince in reserve. I shot some dire avengers and made a load of saves from the guardian fire.

George shot loads of flamers at my raptors with the warlocks in the seer council he killed all but one then assualted and killed that one :(

I Brought the daemon prince in from reserve, finished off the dire avengers and lost some more guys to shruiken fire.
Plasma gun chaos marine killed a banshee and then got assualted by them and the seer council. I was thoroughly wiped out.
Right about turn 4 i finally got the daemon prince into assualt range and got some revenge on the seer council.
The Daemon Prince did not do well against them in the first round of close combat as he hit out against everyone except the farseer this was stupid of me because he was giving them fortune and guide and all that nasty eldar trickery! DP lost combat but made the fearless armour save. This left the prince with one wound left however but then next turn turn 5 assualt phase the daemon prince struck down the farseer rippin him and his bike in half mwuahah then turn six came after we rolled to continue.

The guardian bikes and banshees assualted the remaining five man marine squad with power weapon and flamer the chaos marines were cut down before they could respond. The bikes then consolidated back into the eldar base securing their victory as all the chaos troop choices were dead and the game ended.

Hello, quick mini segment from S,

I've really not been abled to dedicate as much time as I would have liked to painting (or playing) because of...well life....well I say F*** you life! lol here is a preview of my Death leaper. I finally decided on a chitin colour scheme and look forward to painting the rest of my aweeesommme nids arrrmy.
