Painted Flesh Tearer Vanguard unit

Well I wouldn't call it finished but I am very happy with the armour it's definately the way I'm going my FT army. A bit darker than some may go but I like it....and can I just say I cannot wait to get proper FT shoulder pads because doing the design freehandedly(?) is killing me ^-^

Painted Broodlord

I completely forgot to post pictures of the broodlord with the converted tounge I finished some time ago. If I could redo him I would definately give the model an almost head to toe file because it has a LOT of finecast related problems..so here they are :)

Emperor's Children Raptor Kill Team and Flesh Tearers wip

I recently purchased Kill Team on ps3 after a long time moaning about people playing Space Marine and having power swords before reaching level 41. So after thoroughly enjoying Kill Team the game I remembered there has been quite a bit of buzz about the tabletop version. I'd been so involved in Necromunda that I am only just learning how cool it is.

Having realised it's coolness my usual obsessive nature lead to me looking at my CSMs and wondering which models I would choose to make my kill team (I also spent some time pondering how S could compose her tyranids into a Kill team before she even knew what was happening)


I haven't had a go playing yet but have created a list and improved on some Raptors I had (I wasn't 100% happy with them) I especially like the tentacled guy.

As you all know I have decided to collect the Flesh Tearer chapter of Blood Angels. Below is the guy I started today (I decided to at least start on it after finished my Brood Lord today). It is a test marine so I can figure out how I want to achieve the colours and ...well it's been a while since I've painted Space Marines.

Allan kindly gave me one of his assault marines he hadn't converted to chaos, I dropped it and the jump pack neatly came off so I decided to paint it seperatly in case you are wondering why he isn't wearing it.

I plan on using the Flesh Tearer shoulder pads you can get from GW instead of the transfers but for this test marine I did freehand. I've just done a base in Khorne red I do plan on adding highlights and layers so the red in the picture is not the final red shade.

Well mostly because as seems to be the trend on this blog, it isn't based and it's stuck to a paint pot in a most peculiar manner. Not the best job but I completed him in about 3 hours, I'm not trying to become a speed painter like Allan (lol) but I do need to work on my speed as I seem to be getting slower if anything.

Necromunda terrain

Hi all, S here. Just a quick post showing this piece of terrain I made recently. I'd been wanting to make something out of this giant tube of mini chedders and i'm pretty happy with it..

OH YEAH! BA codex came in the post. I was going to post a few pictures with different angles and lighting but I think we all know what it looks like  <^.^>

 

Last tyranid shrike green stuff conversion (lash whip and bones sword)

As promised here is my last shrike with lash whip and bone sword . I actually started making this before I saw them due to be released in WD and I did feel a bit disappointed, but actually I really like my take on the biomorphs. I've just been really lazy to post these pics because I didn't really like the pose but here it is.

The lash whip has spikes taken from spare bits and I just used a reconfigured scything talon to make a bone sword and made a bigger blade on top of it with GS like i'd seen done online so many times. Looks kinda strange but should blend in almost perfectly when primed and painted.

Next pics of them will be fully painted!

Tyranid Shrikes and Lictor to Shrike green stuff conversion

Hiya all,

I've been wanting Shrikes as an addition to my Nids army for some time. What I really crave is a winged hive tyrant but anything with wings will do for now lol only kidding Shrikes are great.
I got them while up in nottingham, I was >< this close to getting some bits to try and make a Harpy when it was whispered to me that I should wait a few weeks and see what comes out (HOW EXCITING) lol

This guy below, I mounted on one of Allan's left over flight stands which I cut and stuck onto the Shrike base. I put scything talon feet onto this one and I must say I was very sceptical of how good they would look because I didn't even really like them on the forgeworld site (which btw made me believe I would get 3 sets in the box). However I think they look really awesome and they allow for a great in-flight pose which the legs really dont allow for.

 I decided to convert my Lictor into another Shrike for the fun of it. I made his wings, tail, shoulder pads and  extra ribs out of green stuff, I also used a warrior head of course. I changed the tail because the Lictor's one just looked wrong bending upwards so sharply. I do have a forth Shrike, one that I'm currently making a green stuff lash whip and bonesword for  which i'll post soon.

 

 I added scything talons onto the wings since adding them takes up the arm sockets. I'm pretty sure they can still have talons? I did dry the line at equipping one guy with lash whip, bone sword and scything talons....because it's illegal lol

Chaos Dread and more scenery (why am i so impatient?)

At the hobby store in warhammer world you can buy Forgeworld models (also known as 'resin crack') over the counter which is great as you don't have to wait ages for them you just ... get them. Great right ?... wrong ! They had S's desired resin crack fix but not mine .. nooooooooo. First I asked for a contemptor dreadnought but this was sold out, which i cant complain about because it is very very popular. Then I asked for a chaos emperors children dread, this they did not have either so they offered me an alpha legion one so i said ..ok this they had (yay!) but they did not have a close combat arm with fist ( i like a proper lookin power fist on my dreads u know what i mean) so i got the space marine close combat arm with fairy like blades on it.

The real moral of this story thou is BE PATIENT ! which i should have learned to do by the age of 25 by now lol
I say this because the store is right above or next to (which of these i cant remember) the citadel factory where they produce all the models. This means you can get any thing they dont have made up for you later that day.

I would have had to leave and come back thou costing me a futher ten pounds sterling and even worse having to wait four hours !

Every time they did not have what i wanted they kindly would inform me i could have it later that day if i ordered it from them..... every time i avoided the question and asked for something else which was obviously less desirable to my hobby needs.

Then they would look at me as if to say "are you an idiot" whereby i would respond with a look as if to say "no i am an impatient idiot and thereby an even greater idiot then you could comprehend!!" therein lies my story as to why my dread looks such a mess lol still atleast its got a twin linked auto cannon hahaha ...i call that a result !

I did bang a chaos icon on top of the dreadnought to make up for the space marine close combat arm but whatever .... i will still paint it as emperors children and say "damn it i shall not change paint schemes ever again !"

Next up is my scenery obsession which has taken on new lofty heights of obsessiveness. I got another manufactorum for my birthday from a gaming buddy of mine paul and have finally started making my own less expensive ruins from foam board these i shall now show you.

Not bad for a first attempt at foam board ruins. The plastic ruins i made were very small so i could give S some plastic bits for her first attempt at ruins which we will show later this week.  Heres my foam board ruins from another angle. So far we have 5 ruins for our gaming table all different sizes and designs foam board and plastic and combined creations of both materials. We are gearing up for city fights hahaha.

Completed Deathleaper

Finished the Deathleaper. Winter light sucks so sorry for the bad lighting.

Next on my agenda is my genestealers and broodlord. I'm not sure if it's worth paining the genestealers because I want to buy a new box so I can include scything talons, The ones I have currently I bought from Ebay (Is there something I'm missing, why on earth would you not configure them that way?) but I guess I could do with the painting practice. Oh also my second unit of genestealers I want to be Ymgarl so thats another box. sigh sometimes I wonder why I bother with Ebay

Emperors children Raptors and Battle report

 Hi there, allan here and I've finnished a few raptors in the following paint scheme...

I already described how i changed it first on space marine the ps3 game so I thought I'd show my raptor skin for the game first.
Here are the minatures ..

Today i played against George a 855 point each side capture and control table quaters game of 40k my chaos marines against his eldar.

I had daemon prince with mark of slaan and doombolt, two 5 man squads of chaos marines one with power weapon and a 7 man squad of raptors with two melta guns and a champion with paired lightning claws.Finally i packed in my havocs with  the big guns we all love to shoot at things.

George had a jetbike seer council with all the lovely cheesey stuff i can never remember, a load of guardian jetbikes, 5 dire avengers and 5 banshees.

I went first moving toward georges base keeping the havocs in my own with their long range goodness and my daemon prince in reserve. I shot some dire avengers and made a load of saves from the guardian fire.

George shot loads of flamers at my raptors with the warlocks in the seer council he killed all but one then assualted and killed that one :(

I Brought the daemon prince in from reserve, finished off the dire avengers and lost some more guys to shruiken fire.

Plasma gun chaos marine killed a banshee and then got assualted by them and the seer council. I was thoroughly wiped out.
Right about turn 4 i finally got the daemon prince into assualt range and got some revenge on the seer council.

The Daemon Prince did not do well against them in the first round of close combat as he hit out against everyone except the farseer this was stupid of me because he was giving them fortune and guide and all that nasty eldar trickery! DP lost combat but made the fearless armour save. This left the prince with one wound left however but then next turn turn 5 assualt phase the daemon prince struck down the farseer rippin him and his bike in half mwuahah then turn six came after we rolled to continue.

The guardian bikes and banshees assualted the remaining five man marine squad with power weapon and flamer the chaos marines were cut down before they could respond. The bikes then consolidated back into the eldar base securing their victory as all the chaos troop choices were dead and the game ended.

I've really not been abled to dedicate as much time as I would have liked to painting (or playing) because of...well life....well I say F*** you life! lol here is a preview of my Death leaper. I finally decided on a chitin colour scheme and look forward to painting the rest of my aweeesommme nids arrrmy.
